A word from our president

A word from our president I am privileged to take on the role of president of the Ottawa Psychoanalytic Society, first established in 1972. As Canada celebrates 150 years as a nation in 2017, our society will celebrate its 45th anniversary. The OPS will have the honour of hosting the Canadian Psychoanalytic Congress as part of all these celebrations. We continue to offer our scientific and film programs, our course in The Essentials of Psychoanalysis, and other events through our Education and Outreach committee. Psychoanalysis, while one of the oldest of the modern psychological treatments, also consistently offers among the newest insights into our minds. The OPS seeks to play its part as a repository for psychoanalytic thought, where the theories may grow and evolve and be passed on. As president I know I am mostly a figurehead, for the spirit of the OPS lies in its members and their many contributions to our programs.
